Getting around Cairns

The conference and expo venue is located in the CBD, an easy flat walk from most accommodation options. Shops, restaurants and markets are within easy reach on foot. Taxis and public buses are also available.

Shopping

Cairns’ CBD shops cater to both locals and visitors. Cairns Central shopping mall is a short distance from the conference venue. If you are self-catering, there is a large Woolworths supermarket in Abbott St. Or if you are coming from overseas, take advantage of the many duty free shops in the heart of Cairns.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday don’t miss the spectacular tropical produce markets at Rusty’s between Grafton and Sheridan Streets. Cairns Night Markets open every night and the Lagoon markets each Saturday are home to colourful craft and art products. If venturing further afield don’t miss the markets at Kuranda, Port Douglas and Yungaburra.

Cairns International Airport is Australia’s gateway to the Asia Pacific and is located only 10 minutes from the centre of Cairns. International flights connect Cairns to Europe, Asia, North America and the Pacific with Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Jetstar, Virgin, Continental Airlines, Air New Zealand and Air Nuigini.

There are direct flights to Cairns from all Australian capital cities with Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar.

Taxis and regular bus shuttles are readily available from Cairns Airport.
